Job Description
General tasks and responsibilities will include:The employee will support the development of Cost Accounting at the sites (the 11 acute care hospitals, along with the Gotham FQHC's and the long-term acute care facilities).This position is for an Assistant Director who will be responsible for the oversight of the Cost Accounting project at multiple sites.The employee in this role will help to inform the work of the Central Office Cost Accounting unit.The employee's primary role is to serve as a liaison between the Central Office Cost Accounting unit and various departments at the hospital.This includes, but is not limited to, the Finance Department and the clinical areas.The employee will assist in facilitating the identification of operational or other changes at their site(s) that may impact the data in the Cost Accounting System.The employee with assist in validating their site's data by participating in the processes of data review, analysis, reconciliation, and verification.The employee will also assist in the dissemination and analysis of reports on an ongoing basis, monitor variances in the site's data and support the ongoing refinement and generation of reports.All other dutines, as assignedMinimum Qualifications1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline with an emphasis on accounting and financial systems; and two (2) years of responsible-level experience in fiscal management or administration with an emphasis on financial systems, management information and controls, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity; or2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in "1" above; and three (3) years of experience, as described in "1" above, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity.
Department Preferences
Five years of experience working in Budget, Reimbursement, Patient Accounting or other relevant financial activitiesFamiliarity with the clinical, billing, and business systems used at NYC Health + Hospitals.Expertise manipulating large databases in software applications (e.g., MS Excel, Access and SQL).Prior experience designing in report writing software, such as Crystal Reports, Tableau, or Oracle Reports.Ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.Ability to interact with health care providers and administrative personnel.Experience developing presentations in MS PowerPoint.Knowledgable in medical procedure coding (e.g., CPT/HCPCS coding), modifiers and related information.Understanding of health care terminology (e.g., diagnosis codes) and reimbursement systems (e.g., diagnosis-related groupers), hospital inpatient/outpatient departments and services.Familiarity with financial structures and reports including financial statements, chart of accounts, trial balance and revenue and usage.If applying online, please include your cover letter in the same file attachment with your uploaded resume.
