Position Summary:This position is responsible for operational and financial oversight and management for over 80 ambulatory care clinics and over 1500 staff, expanding over the Orange County geography. This includes operational oversight of Chao Comprehensive Cancer Center and Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center and affiliated ambulatory network. This role will be an operational leader and partner in advancing key strategic service lines, including oncology, orthopedics, neuroscience, cardiovascular care, and digestive health; as well as partnering to lead the direction, design, and operations of innovative patient-centered care at UCI Health, including advancing telehealth expansion and other digital solutions. This role will be a key strategic partner in future ambulatory expansion plans.Essential Job Functions:

The identification of essential functions below is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties that may be assigned to this position, nor does it restrict the duties which may be assigned to this position if such duties reasonably relate to the position.Prepares annual operating budgets and monitors progress in achieving overall financial goals. Ensures budget compliance and variance reports. Provides data to support key financial indicators and decision making and recommends measures to maximize revenue and performance. Assists in developing operating and capital budgets for the clinics, and directs appropriate aspects of the budget process to various supervisors within the medical center. 10%Participates in growth strategies for primary and sub-specialty care by identifying, analyzing, and pursuing opportunities for acquisitions, mergers, or affiliations. Represents UC Irvine Health at the state, regional, and national level to external organizations involved with ambulatory care. 15%Establishes and ensures appropriate clinical standards in compliance with established policies/procedures, applicable laws, regulatory requirements, codes of practice, accreditation requirements, etc. Assesses and continuously improves the skills of the staff to ensure that program goals are met. Provides effective education, training, direction, and guidance to ensure compliance with established work standards. 10%Ensures that the overall operations of assigned services promote effective interdisciplinary teamwork that results in high quality, cost-effective, and coordinated services which are responsive to the needs of patients, patient's family members, physicians, employees, administration, other departments, and appropriate external organizations. Defines, evaluates, and recommends alternative ambulatory care management strategies to optimize/improve the clinical and financial performance of Ambulatory Practices. 20%Creates a safe work environment that fosters respect and positive morale. Effectively allocates and evaluates department work, determines required staffing levels, and provides leadership and follow-through to ensure that unit services are delivered in a timely, efficient manner. Accepts responsibility for decisions and effective communication. Provides effective human resources management including hiring, firing, training, performance evaluations, and corrective action. 10%Collaborates with Senior Management/Executive Leadership Team to develop operating plans with short and long-term goals to improve efficiency, quality of care and outcomes, clinical documentation, service excellence, and appropriate reimbursement for services. Implements such plans and makes modifications as required. 15%Collaborates effectively with clinical and administrative leadership, physicians, nurses and a wide variety of other staff to ensure that service expectations and programmatic goals are met. Identifies strategies to improve resource utilization, service delivery, workflow, etc. as necessary to meet established expectations. Strong understanding of practice management systems, electronic medical records systems and financial management systemsStrong operations experience and ability to plan and execute performance improvement, patient experience/access and financial performance (HCAHPS, CG-CAHPS and MACRA).Refined quantitative, financial and operational modeling skills and an ability to turn data into actionable information.Proven track record of building a high performing ambulatory care area, specifically, but not limited to patient access (call center operations), quality and physician practice/clinic outcomes.Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobMinimum of 5 years' experience in an executive leadership role (Director or higher) in a complex, multi-site ambulatory setting.Experience in developing and managing capital and operational budgets and ambulatory P&L responsibility.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishDemonstrated track record of enhancing physician engagement within a system.Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or related FieldAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the UC Irvine Health Affairs and work effectively with diverse stakeholders, especially physiciansAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health SystemA management style which emphasizes teamwork, participation, communication and a high-touch service orientation.Preferred Qualifications:
