JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Controls and Automation will play a strategic role in leading and overseeing the development, implementation, and optimization of control systems and automation processes within the organization. This senior leadership position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in controls engineering, automation technologies, and a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure a seamless integration of control and automation solutions across various departments.

1. Leadership and Strategy:

• Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for controls and automation initiatives aligned with overall business objectives.

• Provide leadership and guidance to a team of engineers and specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

2. Project Management:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.

• Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of controls and automation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

3. Technology Assessment and Implementation:

• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies related to controls and automation.

• Evaluate, recommend, and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance the organization's control systems and automation capabilities.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, manufacturing, IT, and quality assurance to ensure a seamless integration of control and automation solutions.

• Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions.

5. Risk Management and Compliance:

• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with controls and automation projects.

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and internal policies.

6. Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for controls and automation systems.

• Implement monitoring tools and processes to track system performance, analyze data, and optimize processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

7. Budget and Resource Management:

• Develop and manage budgets for controls and automation projects.

• Optimize resource allocation to ensure the efficient execution of projects while maximizing ROI.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering, Automation, or related field.

• Proven experience (15 years) in controls engineering and automation, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

• Strong project management skills with a successful track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

• In-depth knowledge of control systems, PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and other automation technologies.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

• The primary location for this position is an office environment.

• Able to lift to 20 lbs.

• Rig yard trips may be expected from time to time.

• 10% travel to rig yards and field.
