Open Until FilledPosition Information:The Office of Marketing and Communications of the Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering works hand-in-glove with the Development, Student Affairs, Undergraduate Admissions, and Graduate Division units to ensure we build a community of engineers that delivers on the universal promise of education.We are seeking a Digital Communications Manager to oversee the strategic planning, creation, and management of digital content across various platforms including websites, social media, and digital communications channels. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the position will collaborate with internal and external teams to promote college initiatives, manage content calendars, and lead a team of student assistants. Additionally, the role involves analyzing and reporting on college rankings, developing marketing campaigns, and managing contact databases of key external audiences. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.Department Custom ScopeReporting to the Director of Marketing, the Digital Communications Manager will plan, create, edit, update, and manage websites, social media, and digital communications (SMS, email, online platforms, etc.) for the Bourns College of Engineering. The Digital Communications Manager will work collaboratively with college and university teams, including development, international relations, the Career Center, information technology, and various other internal and external entities, to promote the campaigns, programs, and initiatives supported by the college. The Digital Communications Manager will manage a content calendar and lead a team of student assistants responsible for the tactical implementation across websites, social media platforms, digital asset creation, and campaign creation and curation designed to meet the college's goals.This position will provide ongoing analysis and reporting of college, department, and peer rankings such as U.S. News & World Report and CSRankings.com to gauge trends, identify next steps for continued ranking improvement, and develop messaging campaigns and marketing collateral to support and elevate reputations among peers.Additionally, the position manages the college's contact databases of key external audiences, including current students, alumni, parents, partners, donors, and peers at engineering colleges. In this role, this position will serve as the primary liaison to numerous teams across the UCR campus and work collaboratively with BCOE colleagues, UCR information technology professionals, and external partners.Key Responsibilities:Produces design and layout for a variety of web applications, as well as information architecture.

Creates and manages website updates, including new microsites, content (images, video, other graphics), and other enhancements within the CMS. Understands SEO/SEM and optimizes the website architecture and its content. Stays current on best practices for web design and user experience. Use Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.), animation software, HTML, and other tools to develop digital assets.

Develops, implements, and manages the college's social media presence to grow followers, reach, and engagement. Monitors conversations and trends and tracks analytics against desired goals and benchmarks. Provides guidance and best management practices for departments and other college entities, prepares and disseminates detailed reports on social media's influence on rankings to senior management, offering actionable insights and strategic recommendations.Meets and consults with clients on a variety of digital communications projects including moderately complex assignments; develops, presents, and recommends web content, site architecture and visual material.

Develops or directs the development of newsletters, annual reports, presentations, videos, etc., that align with the college's strategic mission. Supports units and departments to enhance brand integration. Designs and manages email templates; loads content (images/text) for stakeholder communications. Accountable for ensuring technical accuracy and understandability of web content.

Uses web-based applications (e.g., Site Improve, Google Analytics, email, and social media platforms) to maintain and update the accuracy and freshness of content. Gathers and analyzes data from websites, email, and social media platforms to assess results and recommend improvements. Works with BCOEs Information System Manager to ensure content and visual assets align with campus branding guidelines and messaging is primarily and appropriately focused on key audiences.
