A law firm based in Washington, DC is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Energy Associate Attorney (Regulatory) to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in energy regulatory matters, particularly before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and a proven ability to conduct insightful research, provide persuasive analysis, and communicate effectively. This position offers an opportunity to work on complex regulatory issues and contribute to a dynamic legal practice.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Represent clients in energy regulatory matters, with a focus on proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on energy regulatory issues, policies, and legislation.Draft persuasive legal documents, including petitions, briefs, and comments to regulatory agencies.Develop and implement regulatory strategies to support client objectives and navigate complex regulatory environments.Engage in negotiations and interact with regulatory bodies on behalf of clients.Provide expert legal advice and guidance on compliance with federal energy regulations and policies.Monitor and analyze changes in energy laws and regulations to advise clients on potential impacts.Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop and execute effective legal strategies.Contribute to business development efforts and build strong client relationships.Requirements:7+ years of experience in energy regulatory matters, with significant experience or demonstrated interest in matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to convey complex regulatory issues clearly and persuasively.Track record of insightful research and analysis in the energy regulatory field.Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality legal writing and documentation.Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the District of Columbia Bar, active and in good standing.Skills:Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.In-depth knowledge of energy regulatory frameworks, particularly FERC regulations and procedures.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information effectively.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong client-facing skills and experience in building and maintaining client relationships.High level of professionalism and commitment to providing exceptional legal services.
