Job Description - Alarm Specialist (260 Days) (RTP20240730-033)DescriptionAnalyze the operating condition of district alarm systems, identify any problems, and perform corrective actions as needed, including troubleshooting experience.Install fire and/or security alarm systems, to include layout wiring, conduit and wire mold work, walk testing, and area cleanup.Survey building structures to determine the means, material, and labor necessary to install an alarm system or additional coverage to an existing alarm system.Procure the necessary materials for the job according to district purchasing policies and maintenance directives, and complete all required documentation.Instruct school personnel regarding the location, proper operation, and common malfunctions of the alarm system; inform Central Control before starting any work and after completing work on an alarm system.Read and interpret zone maps, wiring diagrams, blueprints, program sheets, and schematics.Maintain inventory of assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles as assigned daily, inform supervisor of any known problems immediately, and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicle as required.Maintain accurate records for labor, materials, work order completion, project orders, manufacturer's technical data sheets, material safety data sheets, and other maintenance records.Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair, and complete each job or project.Employee may be required to respond to after hour/emergency callouts, be placed on an emergency call out rotation, and flex work hours to accommodate job completions.QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or GED.Preferred Associate’s Degree from an accredited university.Required Texas Fire Alarm License or Nicet Level 2 license.Required 2+ years of direct experience.Preferred 2+ years of programming of FACP’s - Notifier/Edwards/Fire Lite/Silent Knight.Preferred 2+ years of direct Napco Security System experience.Required Valid Texas Driver’s License and a record that meets the District’s standard.Demonstrated extended knowledge of alarms and security systems as it relates to fire safety equipment.Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.Demonstrated ability to work under time pressures and demands of the position to ensure achievement of completion deadlines.Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.Demonstrated ability in accurate record keeping and computer database management, including work orders and material procurement.
