Working Title: Undergraduate Advising Director, Academic Support ProgramsVPUE Unit: Academic AdvisingLocation: Hybrid (at least 3 days on campus each week)Job Code: 7503Job Grade: IStatus: Full-time, exempt, continuingThe Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) seeks an Undergraduate Advising Director (UAD), Academic Support Programs, within the office of Academic Advising and reporting directly to the Director of Academic Support Programs. All UADs conduct academic advising in one-on-one and group advising sessions; the UAD, Academic Support Programs will also develop, implement, and assess advising services and programming to support both general and specialized student populations.In this role, you will:Provide direct advice to students on a range of issues including academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc.Interpret and implement university policy related to academic policies; oversee the implementation of policies and practices for a student population or school.Engage in critical analysis of student and program concerns to resolve substantial issues which may span multiple areas.Develop and implement virtual and in-person programming for special student populations.Analyze and develop report requirements, portals, and student-facing communications.Manage outreach programs and relationships with external community and university liaisons.Apprise students of research, fellowship, and scholarship opportunities.Provide consulting advice to internal and external organizations; act as subject matter expert in a specialized field.Oversee key processes, including contribution and direction on policy and program content.Manage financial processes and development of budgets.May lead teams and projects that impact a significant unit of the university.May direct the work of other staff; contribute to development of staff training programs.Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks. Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.To be successful in this role, you will bring:Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.Advanced communication skills to clearly and effectively convey information to campus partners at all levels of management.Keen awareness of inter-office partnerships and professional diplomacy.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Advanced computer skills/expertise, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse student body.Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies.In addition, preferred requirements include:Advanced degree preferred.Three or more years of experience as a professional academic advisor in a higher education setting.Knowledge and understanding of the intellectual and social development of college students.Advanced skills in coaching student decision-making.Experience teaching and/or conducting research.*Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of his or her job.How to ApplyIf you’re ready to work for an organization that nurtures diversity, respect, professional development and a supportive work-life balance, we invite you to explore this opportunity and apply online.
