Purpose:
Reporting to the VP, Corporate Development, this role is responsible for supporting the development and review of pricing and other analytical models and the management of active and prospective M&A and reinsurance transactions.
Accountabilities:
+ Assist in all phases of a transaction process, from initial target identification through bidding, contract negotiation, closing and post-close refresh
+ Create, or supervise the creation of, pricing models for each proposed transaction
+ Analyze due diligence materials including Actuarial appraisals, Confidential Information Memoranda, policy forms, Cash Flow Testing memoranda, and insurance liability cash flows
+ Contribute to the development of key inputs and actuarial assumptions within transaction diligence and pricing models
+ Lead the preparation of internal deal documents such as the Transaction Memorandum and materials for the management approval process (Large Case Approval Committee)
+ Drive the documentation of internal controls and develop and implement policies and procedures to promote more rigorous transaction review; Support other process improvements which help to improve quality and effectiveness of Corporate Development deliverables
+ Manage projects with appropriate oversight, collaborate with other business units, and maintain third party business relationships
+ Research and be able to summarize and explain actuarial concepts and regulations; Stay abreast of capital market and insurance industry activities and trends.
+ Stay informed of proposed and newly implemented actuarial guidelines, relevant accounting pronouncements, regulatory updates, and other key issues which could impact deal valuation
+ Act as a consistent team player who effectively works across Athene to advance firms goals while assisting with the development of junior talent
+ Peer review work product created by others in the Corporate Development department
+ Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality
Qualifications and Experience:
+ Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Finance or related field
+ 7+ years of experience in the life insurance or reinsurance industry or investment banking background with significant experience in the financial services / insurance sector
+ Ideal candidate will have a significant experience with asset-intensive insurance pricing and/or accounting/financial reporting/capital modeling
+ Preferred designations are FSA or ASA;
+ Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage several projects
+ Demonstrated leadership qualities
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Understanding of statutory and GAAP accounting
+ Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, with the ability to embed good organization and high levels of flexibility and auditability in large projects
+ Experience with actuarial systems, such as MG ALFA, Polysystems or GGY AXIS
+ Programming experience such as Python, VBA, R, or SAS
+ Exhibit dedication to completing tasks thoroughly and on time, including under time pressures and outside normal working hours
+ Ability to view big picture, understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectives
$141,920.00 - $212,880.00 USD Annual
Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
