OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL – MIAMI, FLORIDASTATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIESThe Department of Children and Families for the Southern Region (Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties) is seeking an Assistant Regional Legal Counsel to fill a senior attorney position. Under the direction of the Regional Legal Counsel, the Assistant Regional Legal Counsel represents the Department and coordinates legal activities for the Southern Region including Judicial Circuits Eleven and Sixteen.What you will do:Conduct varied motion practice, pretrial discovery and trial in state and federal courts and represent the Department in general civil appellate cases on matters that may arise in the Southern Region.Represent the Department in legal matters in mental health circuit court proceedings, adult and juvenile incompetency commitment hearings, and in substance abuse program licensing matters.Act as Agency Attorney in formal and informal internal matters and before the Division of Administrative Hearings, and other administrative tribunals.Draft, proof and sign legal pleadings filed with administrative forums and circuit civil, county and criminal divisions.
