Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Physician Assistant – Surgical for the department of Otolaryngology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Participates in a collegial relationship with the physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. Role includes taking histories, making assessments, ordering lab tests, reviewing and reporting diagnostic lab values, conducting outpatient clinics, and assisting physicians in the OR.Among the key duties of this position are the following:Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as imaging, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing, and wound care, and managing infection.Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provisions of continuity of care.Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.Perioperative management of surgical patients.Position Status

This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.Minimum Qualifications
Graduated from a Physician Assistant Program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).Certifications/Licenses
Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).New Jersey License from the State Board of Medical Examiners-Physician Advisory Committee.In the case of a new graduate, they may be considered under the condition that he/she successfully takes and passes the Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey License examination from the State Board of Medical Examiners-Physician Assistant Advisory Committee on the first available date following his/her graduation.BLS.All requirements must be met prior to employment.Physical Demands and Work Environment
