Among the key duties of this position are the following:Performs specialty examination of the patient based on an understanding of neurosurgical pathology, this includes performing a comprehensive neurological physical examination, and compiling patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal with a neurosurgical specialty focus.Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection of neurosurgical patients with an understanding of potential complications related to surgical subspecialty treatments.Develops and implements specialty-focused patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provisions of continuity of care.Instructs and counsels surgical subspecialty patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth, and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.In conjunction with the medical staff, develops and maintains all requirements related to regulatory agencies of the local, state, and federal governments.Position Status

The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, and your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, can quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions. Frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls. Intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities. Manual dexterity and mobility for charting (typing). Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.Work Environment: Ability to function in a fast paced environment and relate well to the patients’ staff and health care team members.
