Position OverviewThe Business Analyst, Enterprise Data and Research is responsible for gathering, identifying, documenting, maintaining business and functional requirements as it relates to the organizational needs for data management and BI solutions. The analyst acts as a liaison between the business units and business intelligence developers to understand, analyze and document requirements for business intelligence solutions including reports, visualizations, data warehouse and the multi-dimensional cube. The analyst will also test and validate the solutions to ensure quality and customer expectations are met. The Business Analyst will be very adept at understanding core business needs and can propose effective data solutions to solve everyday business challenges. This position will functionally work within Enterprise Data and Research team.Essential FunctionsClear understanding of the industry domain and relevant metrics to support the organizational needs.Develops, maintains knowledge, and exceeds expectations of the customer’s business needs as it relates to data.Gather and document requirements from stakeholders, product owner, and developers for reports, dashboards, metrices, and KPIs.Create source to data warehouse mapping specifications, data models, and data flow diagrams for use by data warehouse development resources.Builds user stories with acceptance criteria for team backlog refinement and prioritization.Organizes requirements into related categories to effectively manage and communicate them to various parties.Creates and executes test strategies to verify data quality against business rules and user expectations.Performs analysis for production support of systems and applications, creates associated documentation and coordinates resolutions.Familiarity/Experience with the principles of business architecture i.e., to align the projects and requirements to the business strategy.Creates, reviews, and delivers end-user documentation (user guide, process flow charts, training materials) and training for accuracy.Experience in SQL scripts, reporting & visualization techniques such as SSRS, Power BI required to understand the queries, extract the data, data quality testing, report creation etc.Assures integrity between data warehouse and OLTP as business rules change.Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups, or personnel with whom work must be coordinated.Be a catalyst/change agent to migrate reports from legacy systems to state-of-art BI solutions. Be a champion of evaluating, maintaining, updating, and optimizing BI solutions as well as retiring when appropriate.Constantly examines, develops, maintains, and updates team’s supporting documentation, standards, and guidelines. Ensures team adheres to industry standards and actively utilizes best practices.Awareness of Agile and SCRUM methodologies that are utilized by the organization to bring projects to fruition.Understanding of cloud technology (i.e., Azure services) to support the organization in migrating to cloud and in building state-of-art enterprise-wide BI solutions and reports.Cognizant of emerging technologies, operate dynamically, propose effective data solutions and technologies into the BI solutions, where appropriate.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business, operations, computer science, or a related field.
