This role is responsible for the identification, coordination, and delivery of continuous improvement projects. The Continuous Improvement Specialist develops and implements a lean enterprise transformational initiative that will produce immediate, measurable results and an action-oriented base plan for continuous improvement throughout the entire organization.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist business leadership in the selection, planning, development, and coordination of improvement plans for effective and sustainable cost-saving initiatives and maximizing efficiencies in support of company goals.Analyze/define operational opportunities by conducting detailed reviews, including interviewing key personnel and observing operations and processes.Create specific proposals for operational improvement projects to senior management, including basic cost-benefit analysis.Directly lead and/or manage approved operational improvement projects, ensuring projects achieve desired objectives.Maintain projects on time and budget, manage expectations and risk, and ensure post-implementation benefits are realized.Lead projects in all aspects of the business, focusing on continuous operational improvement processes, waste reduction, and problem-solving methods through the use of lean principles, tools, concepts, and methodologies.Calculate savings realized through projects, working with management to achieve agreed final financial impact of project.Provide coaching and support to other project leads as directed by the Director of Continuous Improvement.Create, maintain, and sustain continuous improvement processes, metrics (KPIs), and tools for assigned managers or departments, supporting key deliverables in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost reduction, growth, and innovation.Work with colleagues and functional leaders in accomplishing project goals.Act as a change agent by communicating organizational-wide changes to employees and helping them learn, understand, adjust, and grow within the continuous improvement culture.Utilize current tracking tools and develop new tracking tools to allow the systems to be monitored and challenged.Perform system checks to ensure established system designs are functioning and being executed as designed; coach and facilitate the need to follow systems correctly to sustain effectiveness.Actively participate in AAR Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting safety hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand and promote the company safety policy.All other duties as assigned.QualificationsCORE COMPETENCIES:Communication: conveying information and ideas clearly and concisely to individuals or groups in an engaging manner that helps them understand and retain the message.Building Trust: interacting with others in a way that gives them confidence in one's intentions and those of the organization.Building Partnerships: Developing and leveraging relationships within and across work groups to achieve results.Quality Orientation: accomplishing tasks by considering all areas involved, no matter how detailed.Innovation: experimenting with new ways to solve work problems and seize opportunities that result in unique and differentiated solutions.Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and presentation skills are required. Self-starter.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related functional areas, or equivalent experience.Lean Six Sigma certification considered an asset.Project Management Professional certification considered an asset.Minimum 5 years experience leading and delivering continuous improvement projects/initiatives in an operations environment (preferably aerospace).Demonstrated experience with data mining and analysis tools and techniques.Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
