Job Description - Team Lead Language Services - DC - Full time (24000268)DescriptionUnder supervision, the Team Lead will provide language interpretation services to patients, families and staff in critical, acute, or chronic medical situations as needed. Will provide services in person or telephonic interpretation to assist patients and families in their interactions throughout the hospital. Will assist manager in program knowledge and initiatives.QualificationsMinimum EducationBachelor's Degree (Required)Master's Degree (Preferred)
Minimum Work Experience3 years Experience as a medical interpreter in a clinical setting (Required)
Required Skills/KnowledgeBilingual Spanish and English.Highly proficient in medical terminology.
Required Licenses and CertificationsCertification in Medical Interpretation preferred or required within 1st year of employment. Master's degree in equivalent field may be accepted.1 Year (Required)Functional AccountabilitiesEliminates Language Barriers to Patient Care

Educates staff in the process of how to appropriately request interpretation servicesCommunicates with staff about staff needs and patient/family needsWorks closely with other departments providing recommendationsCollaborates with the Manager of Patient and Family Education to develop and implement program guidelines, policies and procedures with staffEducates program staff on best practices and ensures educational requirements are metAssists in the design, development and coordination of training sessions, programs and competency testing staff
Contributes to a Well-Organized Program
Helps to ensure interpretation assignments are coordinated accurately, effectively and efficientlyMaintains required logs/tracking system in order to track project progress and productivityProvides direct supervision to medical interpreter staff as assigned by manager ensuring medical interpreters meet performance requirementsManages own time to be productiveMaintains archives and databases related to interpretation/translation projectsDistributes workload in the absence of the Language Services Manager
