Help Microsoft build the cloud! We are looking for an experienced commercial attorney to help build the infrastructure for Microsoft’s global cloud in the role of Corporate Counsel. This position will focus on counseling and transaction support for the organization responsible for engineering and development of innovative datacenter hardware systems and operating a world-class supply chain meeting high standards for resilience, security, privacy, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Drafting and negotiating high-value agreements with suppliers to Microsoft’s global supply chain for datacenter hardware.Creating new contract models, templates, and process improvements to improve quality and reduce contract cycle time.Developing trusted advisor relationships and counseling the cloud hardware organization on a broad range of legal and policy issues, including such areas as intellectual property, open source, collaborative development, artificial intelligence, international trade, human rights, regulatory compliance, privacy, and security.Collaborating with stakeholders within and across organizational boundaries, including engineering, sourcing, finance, legal specialists, government affairs, and community affairs.Counseling and transaction support to adapt our complex engineering and supply chain functions to support novel operating models for datacenters and online services for government customers and customers in critical industry sectors.Counseling and transaction support on Microsoft sustainability initiatives for cloud infrastructure.Qualifications

Required Qualifications:Juris Doctorate Degree or Equivalent International DegreeActive license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.3+ years experience as a practicing attorney with a law firm or in-house experienceExperience supporting complex commercial transactions on a first-chair basis.Other Requirements:Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in supply chain issues and transactions, intellectual property, and technology transactions.Experience counseling and working with sourcing, engineering, program management, and other non-legal clients on complex commercial and regulatory issues.Outstanding negotiation and collaboration skills.Legal Counsel IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.Microsoft will accept applications for the role until June 27, 2024.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
