Business Development Executive - Smart Metering/ Smart Grid

to join our team. The BDE is responsible for researching and pursuing current clients and new business leads for the growth of the business. You will play a pivotal role in fostering client relationships and driving new Engineering Services bookings within the technology focused for utilities industry. You will also be a key player in promoting Capgemini’s engineering services value to major smart metering OEMs in the US, with a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion (D&I) in all client interactions and solutions. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and excellent relationship management skills.Key Responsibilities:Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders at Smart Metering/ Smart Grid. Act as the primary point of contact, ensuring a deep understanding of their business objectives and challenges.Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within Smart Metering/ Smart Grid. Develop strategic plans to expand Capgemini Engineering's footprint and drive revenue growth.Solution Delivery: Collaborate with internal teams to design and deliver innovative engineering solutions that meet the specific needs of Smart Metering/ Smart Grid. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.Account Strategy: Develop and execute account strategies to achieve business targets. Monitor market trends and provide insights to clients on emerging technologies and best practices.Client Satisfaction: Ensure a high level of client satisfaction by delivering quality services and solutions. Address and resolve any issues or concerns promptly.Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Capgemini Engineering's global teams, including sales, delivery, and technical experts, to leverage the full capabilities of the organization in serving Smart Metering/ Smart Grid.Sales and Promotion: Presenting, promoting, and selling solutions/services using well-crafted arguments to both existing and prospective customers.Executive Engagement: Engaging with customers at VP and C-Suite levels, particularly those responsible for professional services and engineering.Sales Process Management: Generating leads, qualifying opportunities, negotiating terms, and closing deals to drive profitable growth.Deal Structuring: Structuring and shaping deals for value, demonstrating, and providing input on offerings, services, and capabilities.Business Growth: Being responsible for revenue, order bookings, and P&L for the client business, aiming to grow the business.Repeat Business Development: Developing repeat business by understanding the client context, upselling, and cross-selling; developing reasons and value; providing strategic recommendations to shape the client value proposition and create winning pitches.Client Engagement Monitoring: Supervising client engagement levels closely, conducting periodic business reviews, and implementing measures to gain traction with the client.Sales Target Achievement: Achieving agreed-upon sales targets and outcomes within the scheduled timeframe.Required Skills:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related field.Minimum of 10 years of experience in a client-facing role within the engineering or consulting industry.Proven track record of managing and growing large accounts, preferably with clients such as Smart Metering/ Smart Grid.Deep understanding of the engineering services landscape, with experience in sectors like energy, utilities, and industrial automation.Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver innovative solutions.Proficiency in project management methodologies.Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients and internal teams.Nice to Have Skills:Proven experience selling creative complex business models and engineering and design services into Smart Metering/ Smart Grid customers, strong background in solution selling – Digital Engineering, Manufacturing and Design, Software engineering, advanced metering, ADMS technologies.Won and led deals of $10 million + independently in Engineering services and solution sales.Proven track record to build deep, consultative, trust-based client relationships strong knowledge, understanding client’s business with references of 7+ years.Ability to lead one large or multiple small programs and develop sales plan for the assigned customer portfolio and individual Account Plans.Identification, mobilization, and management of internal and external partners for achieving revenues.Passionate about value selling and high-value models of selling with understanding and implementation of company strategy on financials, offerings, segments, target accounts.Join us at Capgemini Engineering and be a part of our dynamic team driving innovation and excellence in the Smart Metering/ Smart Grid domain.
