Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:The Director of Clinical Care Operations is responsible for the management of the nursing business operations for capacity management, patient flow, staffing office, transfer center, float pool, transport services, house supervisors and the discharge lounge. The Director provides services to meet UCI Health business objectives and supports execution of operational projects to improve and sustain labor and workforce improvement projects. Maintains direct supervision of the Managers with indirect supervision of staff FTEs 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.The Director develops, implements and assists with the administration of staffing plans and resource allocation to meet productivity targets and patient care needs. Develops and monitors operating budgets; prepares variance analyses and investigates reasons for major variances; develops and presents potential solutions, including oversight of associated metrics; and ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provides budget analysis, oversight of contract labor operations, and development and execution of business plans and strategic operating plans. Participates in staffing governance committees and uses excellent negotiating skills as needed to resolve conflict among various groups and individuals with diverse backgrounds. Collaborates with divisional directors and unit managers to ensure complete staffing assignments. Reviews and updates nursing policies and procedures related to staff management in accordance with professional nursing guidelines and standards. Effectively leads teams to identify key performance indicators. Assembles and maintains project plans and documentation of project progress using standardized project management tools, coordinates project communication with impacted areas across the enterprise and develops applicable processes and outcome metrics to measure project success.

Preferred Qualifications:Results oriented attitude with excellent budgeting and financial skillsRN Certification in specialty area or management, within 3 years of hireMaster's in Healthcare AdminMaster's in Business AdministrationMaster's of Science, NursingKnowledge of the Orange County healthcare marketKnowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and formsExperience working in a UC and/or union environment
