Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:Reporting to the Senior Director of Planning Administration, incumbent is responsible for independently planning and managing all aspects of capital design and construction projects for the Medical Center. Using advanced managing and critical thinking skills incumbent ensures appropriate project scope and definition, and takes action to ensure review and consideration of all relevant issues by all applicable groups such as Medical Center and UC administration groups, State/Federal agencies, committees, etc. Responsible for managing multiple project teams, to include meeting with Clients to define both project scope and program. Directs and coordinates all team efforts. Reviews construction documents and makes decisions as necessary to ensure conformance to approved program and design intent, within schedule and budget restraints, including financial trade-offs and resolution of conflicts between competing expectations.

Required Qualifications:Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesKnowledge of document retention theories and methodsExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishExcellent knowledge of and experience with MS Office products including, but not limited to Power Point, Excel, Word.Demonstrated project management experience to manage the design and construction process, including defining project scopes, administering project budgets, fiscal controls and schedulesBachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / trainingAdvanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including highly effective negotiation skills and highly developed political acumen.Advanced project management skills to effectively manage highly complex projects, or highly specialized and critical project component.Advanced knowledge of the organization, including its infrastructure, rules, regulations, policies and short- and long-range strategic building plans.Advanced knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes, including advanced understanding of industry practices, or deep expertise in a highly specialized and critical discipline.Advanced analytical, organizational and problem recognition / avoidance / resolution skills.Advanced ability to manage contractors and maintain compliance to the agreed-upon scope of work and budget.Ability to successfully lead projects and develop and manage to project plans, timelines, budget and deliverablesAbility to prioritize critical projects that impact the quality and functionality of Medical Centers physical environmentAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health SystemAbility to develop a work pace appropriate to the workload8 to 10 years' experience in hospital project management experience.
