Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:The Outpatient Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Lead (OSPCL) reports to the Pharmacy Manager and leads and directs the clinical, administrative and financial aspects of outpatient specialty pharmacy (OSP) services to support safe and effective management of specialty medication therapies. OSPCL duties include working with pharmacy management to design, plan and implement pharmacy related clinical programs. The OSPCL will direct specialty clinical pharmacists working in the specialty program and serves as Senior Pharmacist on the Specialty Pharmacy Quality Management Committee. The OSPCL leads program quality improvement projects and policy and procedure development in accord with URAC and ACHC accreditation. This position will work with other pharmacy supervisors to plan and execute strategies to market and grow the outpatient specialty pharmacy services offered, ensure optimal reimbursement for high-cost specialty medications prescribed in various UCI Health centers, clinics and cancer centers. The OSPCL will perform new drug reviews, assist in the development of new clinical programs for the OSP including but not limited to MTM, immunization, Travel Clinic. The OSPCL will collaborate with other members of the specialty pharmacy team to ensure Quality Management and Patient Management programs are effective and efficient and periodically consults with practitioners in the field. The OSPCL provides guidance for the clinical operational aspects of the program and oversight of the clinical decision-making aspects of the program.Essential Job Functions:

Collaborates with colleagues within and outside of the Pharmacy Department. Provides clear, timely communication - both verbally and in writing. Collaborates with other members of the specialty pharmacy team to ensure Quality Management and Patient Management programs are effective and efficient. 15%Provides oversight and leadership for the clinical decision-making aspects of program, including giving direction to Specialty Clinical Pharmacists. Serves as Senior Pharmacist on the Specialty Pharmacy Quality Management Committee. 20%Provides Patient Management Program supervision. Functions as the Clinical Oversight Body Leader and provide oversight of the Patient Management Program. With the assistance of Pharmacy Leadership, ensures qualified clinicians are accountable for decisions affecting consumers. Oversees staff training related to Clinical and Specialty Pharmacy services. 15%Perform clinical oversight for the services provided by the organization to meet its needs. Work with Pharmacy leadership to develop the strategic plan for the clinical operational aspects of the pharmacy program. Actively participate in the design and implementation of clinical pharmacy programs and provide guidance for clinical operational aspects of the program. Lead policy & procedure development to maintain compliance with URAC and ACHC standards. 20%Oversees daily operations of the OSP. Functions as the Clinical Oversight Body Leader and provide oversight of the Patient Management Program. 15%Develops and monitors ambulatory care programs. Creates metrics to monitor quality improvement, monitor outcomes, and perform data analyses. Provides leadership for quality improvement activities. 15%

Required Qualifications:Two years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy or an equivalent combination of education and experienceQualifications to perform clinical oversight for the services providedLicensed to practice a health profession in the relevant jurisdictionExceptional verbal, written, and presentation communication skillsDoctor of Pharmacy degreeActive registered pharmacist license in good standing with the CA Board of Pharmacy

Preferred Qualifications:Specialty Pharmacy Certification and /or equivalent experience.Knowledge of URAC and ACHC standardsHospital pharmacy residencyBoard CertificationAdvanced Practice Pharmacist license preferred (APH)
