We are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming space, connecting students to purposeful experiences, developing student leaders, nurturing personal, academic, and professional growth, and engaging students in self-discovery and self-authorship.About the Position:The Coordinator of Student Involvement for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) is part of the professional staff team of Student Involvement, within the Division of University Life. The position manages multiple responsibilities while fulfilling the strategic goals established by the office, the Division of University Life, and the University. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Involvement, the Coordinator is responsible for providing support, leadership development, and training to RSOs.Responsibilities:Student Organization CoordinationSupports over 500 student organizations to maintain their compliance with University policy in all areas of program planning, fiscal responsibility, and operational procedures.Oversees the registration process for all RSOs and new RSOs to ensure executive board members are informed.Oversees onboarding of all new registered student organizations.Initiates, implements, and coordinates activities, programs, and services that enhance student involvement, engagement, and leadership development.Provides education and advising to students in their understanding and adherence to campus policies and procedures.Communicates to RSOs to ensure compliance with university policies and Virginia state laws.Provides compliance oversight for RSO events.Leadership Development & TrainingDevelops and facilitates ongoing training for registered student organizations.Evaluates and assesses the RSO community annually to understand their needs and identify beneficial education topics.Creates, coordinates, and facilitates trainings to ensure RSOs have the knowledge to remain in compliance with university policies and Virginia state laws.Hires, trains, and supervises two student leaders to serve as event policy compliance support.Event Planning & ExecutionAssists students in risk and liability mitigation.Serves as a resource to students and student groups who want to coordinate activities on campus.Assists and advises students in all aspects of successful program planning, advertising, budgeting, contract negotiation, and use of facilities/equipment.Support, Advocacy, OutreachAdvocates for student needs to campus departments, administration, and community stakeholders.Updates and maintains an online resource directory for RSOs.Develops and maintains website content.Support of Student Involvement InitiativesAssists with the execution of major events as needed.Serves on department or division-wide committees as requested.Participates as an active member of the University Life/Student Involvement professional staff.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Master's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience typically obtained in 2+ years working in Student Activities, Student Involvement, or Student Organizations on a college campus.Demonstrated experience working with a team to accomplish collective goals.Demonstrated experience managing conflicting and competing situations.Experience in developing and presenting workshops, programs, and initiatives for students and communities.Experience working with student organizations and event management.Knowledge of event management and risk management education.Demonstrated organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to engage in transformational leadership.Ability to develop and implement educational/development programs on topics such as event and risk management, leadership, etc.Demonstrated commitment to diversity and effective communication with students, faculty, and staff.Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license meeting GMU's requirements.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in direct advisement and leadership development of students and student organizations.Experience supervising student employees.Experience planning and implementing large-scale events on a college campus.Fiscal management experience.Experience managing confidential information.Proven skills of flexibility and adaptability to change.Advanced interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Ability to connect with a diverse population of students.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Teamwork-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist and collaborate with colleagues.Commitment to customer service.Instructions to Applicants:For full consideration, applicants must apply for
