JOB GOAL:The Early Childhood Manager will demonstrate knowledge of early childhood development; will oversee students’ recruitment, screening, placement, registration; and will facilitate Special Education and English Learners students’ identification to better provide services related to the achievement of young children in New Bedford Public Schools.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree. Master preferred.Administrator’s LicenseEarly Childhood and/or Special Education MA LicenseMinimum 3 years of experience in Early Childhood Education and/or Special EducationExperience completing Early Childhood screening assessments or willingness to be trainedKnowledge of community support services available to Early Childhood students and their familiesExperience writing, managing, and monitoring grantsDemonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills; organizational abilities; problem solving skills; and the ability to define and complete goalsBasic Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and OutlookExperience working with teachers, administrators, service providers, families and community agencies, to better integrate services for students in the New Bedford Public SchoolsPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides staff leadership in promoting the understanding of the educational objectives of the district and plans and administers professional development programs and activities for instructional personnel to meet these objectives.Coordinate and complete the screening, placement, and registration process for children aged 2.9 to 5 years of age in collaboration with the Special Education Office and the Family Welcome Center.Collaborate with Preschool and Early Intervention Programs regarding referrals, recruitment, screening, placements, and other LEA partnership efforts.Assist with the collection and analysis of data related to early childhood compliance indicators to DESE state performance plan.Manage and Monitor the Commonwealth Preschool Partnership initiative (CPPI) Grant EEC requirements.Assist in developing workshops and trainings for staff in order to improve compliance and improve programming for Early Childhood students.Plan, implement, and deliver Professional Development.Facilitate and participate in district and New Bedford Community Partners meetings as needed.Maintain knowledge and understanding of NAEYC accreditation standards.Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Educational Access and Pathways, and/or the Superintendent.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
