Join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of our community.We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Regional Transportation Planning Deputy Director to join our team. This role involves a variety of duties related to planning, design, and project management for transportation system improvements. The successful candidate will support the development and administration of regional multimodal transportation planning programs, coordinate with local, state, and federal transportation agencies, maintain the travel demand model, manage the travel impact process, review planning studies, conduct research, and assist the Regional Transportation Planning Director. $100,334.74- $140,632.05/annuallyMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSGraduation with a bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, or closely related field; ANDMaster’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Engineering, and/or having a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) or Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), or other related field or related certifications preferred; ANDFour (4) years’ experience (two (2) years if have a Master’s) of responsible experience in public administration, public transportation administration, public transit administration, planning, management, engineering, or operations required. ORAn equivalent combination of education and experience.Valid driver’s license required.GIS experience preferred.BENEFITSOptions for a premium free Health PlanLife InsuranceState of Utah RetirementVacation Pay401K MatchESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSHandles short and long-range transportation questions and issues daily.In partnership with the County’s traffic engineer, develop and coordinate elements of the Summit County Long Range Transportation Plan, including research and analysis multimodal facilities, and alternative modes of transportation.Complex planning reviews related to proposed development projects and how they interrelate and improve transportation modes with current development. Assist in the coordination of community engagement often involving sensitive transportation or political issues with the community. Identify traditionally under-engaged groups.Assist in the coordination of project/process management of key initiatives such as updates to the County’s transportation and land-use master plans.Develops population projections; mapping, financial forecasts and environmental, societal impacts and spatial data; forecasts travel patterns and financial implications for the County’s potential transportation projects.Development, estimation, calibration, validation, and implementation of the travel demand model to identify trip-based forecasts and scenarios and incorporate next-generation, data-driven modeling techniques.For projects and developments, presents plan aspects to the County Council, citizens, businesses, special interest groups, and governmental officials at the local, regional, state, and federal levels.Convenes the appropriate elected officials of the region to provide policy guidance and decision making on a Regional Long Range Transportation Plan and projects to be included in the State Transportation Improvement Program. Also convenes a technical group of entity personnel to recommend planning and implementation efforts related to the Regional Long-Range Plan.Participates in transportation and traffic studies and road inventories; conducts traffic counts, pedestrian counts and other data retrieval.Conducts traffic impact fee studies, completes annual reports, and implements these studies to application of development proposals.In conjunction with the Public Works Department, recommends, administers, and implements the transportation portion of the County’s Capital Improvement Plan. Manages the County’s Transportation Tax and Small Cities grant programs and prepares annual associated budgets for presentation to the Summit County Council of Governments (COG) and County Council.Assists the Regional Transportation Planning Deputy Director to manage day-to-day functions of the transportation division as directed.
