Specifically, we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate, from site selection to decommissioning.In this role, you will work directly with a client’s sustainability team supporting energy and sustainability goals, targets, and initiatives. As a member of the JLL Sustainable Operations team, you will ensure our sustainability services are effectively and efficiently delivered. You will act as an accelerator enabling our client to increase engagement across stakeholders, progress towards goals, and realize success with buildings performance. You will ensure program integration and implementation across business/functions throughout the real estate lifecycle to achieve scope of work delivery and goals. This role requires strategic implementation, leadership, and a programmatic approach to embed sustainability thinking and practices into real estate functional aspects (e.g., fit-outs, occupancy, maintenance, experience, etc.).While a remote-based role, this position requires residence in Northern California, and may require periodic travel, and/or in-office presence as directed by the client.What this job involvesDeveloping, implementing, and optimizing energy and sustainability program in direct collaboration with the client’s sustainability teamRobust, proactive communication, driving innovation, integration of feedback to remove roadblocks, and leveraging opportunitiesStrategic decision-making, including leveraging data tracking and monitoringWorking cross-functionally across JLL teams to achieve success with energy and sustainability initiatives aligned with the scope of workProgram implementation leadership and accountability including ongoing coordination of energy and sustainability initiatives, monitoring and report outs, and ownership of client relationshipLeveraging client tools and applicable in-house JLL tools and processes for problem-solving, and identifying and securing alternative tools as needs ariseUnderstanding the implementation of sustainability across the life cycle of commercial real estate, including strong understanding of critical stakeholder rolesKey responsibilities include:Take ownership of, and improve upon, a multi-faceted sustainability programLead the implementation and continuous improvement of energy and sustainability initiatives across the client real estate portfolio, including development of relevant tactical and strategic plans and activitiesProvide strategic direction and guidance on ways to effectively and efficiently implement sustainability services that meet client expectations, including development of annual and multi-year tactical and programmatic sustainability plansMeet client sustainability objectives and relevant key performance indicators and ensure processes for monitoring and measuring performance are transparent and reportedOwn and develop internal and external stakeholder engagement to ensure integration of energy and sustainability initiativesEstablish strong working relationships with other JLL workstreams (technology, finance, projects, IFM, consultants, and procurement) to deliver against KPI targets, elevate the sustainability mission and objectives, and drive implementation where most organic within the businessWith cross-functional view, effectively manage changes in partnership with stakeholders, which have the potential to impact sustainability objectivesWork in direct collaboration with data analysts to confirm data integrity and accuracy including quality control checksLeverage the broader JLL Sustainability PlatformTrack and communicate success stories to ensure a high level of awareness and engagement is achieved with regard to the overall sustainability programDemonstrate innovative thinking and proactive management in bringing new ideas and solutions to the services delivery, and ensure they are rolled out effectivelyDevelop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of utility/sustainability management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposesProvide expertise in building energy efficiencies, decarbonization, waste reduction and diversion practices, and water use reductionOwn and manage Sustainability program delivery according to scope of work and scheduleProvide SME input and own program components (e.g., content development, maintenance) related to SME areaSound like you?Requirements – EssentialUniversity degree (Science, engineering, math, or related fields)10 plus years’ experience in the sustainable operations, engineering of commercial buildings, building science, or related fieldTechnical understanding of common HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems and their impact on sustainability goalsAdvanced understanding of energy conservation measures and sustainability initiatives in commercial real estateStrong operations experience in large multi-dimensional organization with focus on operations management, productivity, or engineering excellence and embody a bias for actionStrong communication and cross-collaboration skills, and ability to coordinate effectively with various stakeholdersDemonstrated experience in influencing cross-functional teams including development and delivery of presentations and trainingsExcellent ability to build relationships with clients and their internal teamsA strong track record of strategic integration of sustainability into organizations’ operationsExperience working in a collaborative way with clients and other stakeholders to develop and implement ambitious and robust sustainability programs, including tactical plans, processes, roadmaps, and proceduresProven project management experience and excellent communication skillsAttention to detail and accuracy in written and numeric workAbility to obtain buy-in and engagement from employees at all levelsPassionate about working towards a sustainable futureExperience in utility data analyticsUnderstanding of Greenhouse Gas Emission scopes and reportingRequirements – DesiredAdvanced degree, demonstrating a mastery of building systems (HVAC, lighting, building management systems) and related sustainability aspectsPreferred applied experience in building auditing, commissioning, retrofit and designExperience working with corporate clients, commercial property, property managers and an understanding of the landlord and tenant relationship is desirableAdvanced understanding of Greenhouse Gas Emission scopes and reportingAn excellent understanding of the advanced energy and sustainability issues for corporate occupiers of real estate including, but not limited to: decarbonization, embodied carbon, circularity, resource preservation, biodiversity, climate risk, health & wellbeing, and social value creationFamiliarity with municipal energy and
