Date: Aug 10, 2024Location: Various locations in FloridaThis advertisement is for a full-time, Career Service position located at Various Correctional Institutions and Regional Offices throughout the state in the Maintenance Department.Salary: $40,351.04 - $52,000.00 annuallyThe selected candidate will start at minimum of range or by current pay policy. The position serves as a Subject Matter Expert for new construction and major maintenance repair and renovation projects at institutional facilities Statewide. This position will serve as the team leader for major repairs and renovations to various components of a correctional facility.The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to:Serve as Team Lead for various plumbing, electrical, cabinetry/carpentry, masonry, HVAC, drywall, roofing, and associated systems necessary to operate a major institution.Assists in training correctional institutions General Maintenance staff within the region.Administers construction projects accomplished by a Construction Manager or General Contractor.Administers construction projects accomplished by agency personnel and inmate labor.Develops work plans, project budgets, and project schedules.Oversees the establishment of work crews.Prepares materials and cost estimates.Prepares schedules of values.Establishes specifications, prepares bid packages, analyzes bids and recommends awards, reviews and approves shop drawings.Makes periodic visits to job sites to review the progress and reviews and resolves construction problems.Reviews and approves invoices.Briefs supervisors on the progress of projects, conducts substantial and final inspections and certifies completions, assures compliance by staff with contract documents and specifications, and provides coordination between all parties involved.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Five (5) or more years of professional experience in the commercial construction field.Three (3) or more years of experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:A Florida commercial contractor's license in one or more trades of general building.Formal training and/or education on construction management or trades, architecture, or engineering.NOTE:Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.If you are interested in this position and meet the above indicated qualification and have the desired education, knowledge and experience, please submit a State of Florida Application and resume through the People First system.Applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM EST on the closing date.Successful applicant must pass a background screening and fingerprinting.The State of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Affirmative Action Employer, and does not tolerate discrimination or violence in the workplace.Candidates requiring a reasonable accommodation, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, must notify the agency hiring authority and/or People First Service Center (1-866-663-4735).The State of Florida supports a Drug-Free workplace.
