Position Summary

The Purchasing Agent directs the activities of trade partners and material suppliers. They are the primary representative of Rausch Coleman Homes for our trade partner relations and source supply information internally to the construction and sales departments.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Purchasing and Estimating Manager (if assigned) and indirectly to Division Manager.Responsible for accurate data integrity of our internal systemsResponsible for trade partner negotiations.Ensure trade partner compliance with company construction standards.Responsible for job cost assignmentsResponsible for material product selection and takeoff quantity assignmentResponsible for managing the Pre-Start Report and processResponsible for ordering house documents such as plot plansResponsible for marking up blueprints and preparing files for permitting.Responsible for preparing job start packets and releasing Purchase Orders and Work Orders to begin construction.Additional duties as required.Requirements

Ability to understand mathematical equations.Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Excel.Ability to read, understand, and explain construction blueprints and floorplans.Working knowledge of the basic materials and methods used by trade partners.Proven ability to conduct a house takeoff and assign material quantities.Excellent organization skills and possesses the ability to multi-task.Self-motivated and the ability to solve problems effectively.Be professional in dress, manners, and conduct.Knowledge of standard computer applications.Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 2 years' experience of purchasing background with a high preference given for knowledge of production home building.Experience in construction contract negotiations.Solid understanding of job cost details to build a home.Ability to read, interpret, and resolve inconsistencies and problems in construction plans and specifications.Experience in a customer service position.Ability to review construction job costs and make assessments to improve material quantity.Ability to evaluate alternative methods of construction in terms of cost efficiency.Physical Demands
