BSAD-VPFNAD-EJob DescriptionSaint Augustine’s University seeks a seasoned financial professional well versed in complex financial environments and armed with innovative organizational planning strategies to serve as Vice President of Finance and Administration ( VPFA ). The

VPFA

is responsible for directing the work of finance and administrative services, provides budget, financial, and administrative human resource services to the University. The

VAFA

works closely with the President’s office and the Executive Leadership team members, serving as a resource and advisor especially in areas of aligning budget, accounting, and staffing consistent with university and unit priorities.

The successful candidate understands institutional priorities and is well versed in complex budgeting strategies and planning, revenue streams, funding mechanisms, and enjoys serving in an advisory role offering suggestions and guidance to senior leaders. The ideal leader is highly collaborative and excels in building and maintaining relationships across an organization and leads business operations and strategic planning for the division.

The Vice President for Finance & Administration has the fiduciary responsibility for all University resources and will, as a strategic partner, communicate and collaborate regularly with the Vice Presidents and Deans, faculty and staff, students and community leaders to ensure the effective stewardship of its resources. He/she will continually assess the University’s economic, demographic, and competitive landscape as well as national, state and regional conditions to conduct and share financial analysis and planning that will inform strategic decision-making. The Vice President will possess the skills and sensibilities to lead in a team-oriented environment across multiple administrative areas, to implement a broad vision, to handle ambiguity and competing interests and details, and to communicate effectively in public.

PRIMARY

RESPONSBILITIES :Establishes and implements goals, policies, and procedures related to finance and administrative affairs.Implements the University’s mission of access, success, and economic mobility for its diverse student body.Develops and implements the strategic financial planning for the short- and long-term success and sustainability of this mission.Effective leadership and management of the institution’s business operations, contracts, and human resources.Presents timely, accurate, and relevant financial reports, projections, and analysis to the President and the Executive Leadership team to inform decision-making.Monitors financial performance to ensure intergenerational equity of the University’s finances and budgets, including multi-year forecasting, as well as monitoring of internal and external trends.Develops and improves operational systems with a focus on efficiency, effectiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement.In collaboration with other key members of the senior leadership team, ensures the continued work on a comprehensive plan for critical facilities and programs, keeping an eye focused on the evolving needs of students and faculty.Serves as liaison officer with various state agencies/departments and other organizations related to financial and administrative matters.Oversees the process for developing, monitoring and reporting on annual operating budgets.Works with external financial advisors (bankers, bond underwriters, etc.) as necessary.Provides oversight of the University’s endowment and investments, and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and laws.Partners closely with and supports the Board of Trustees’ Finance and Audit Committees.Provides additional support to the President, as requested.

EXPERIENCE

:Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible roles leading a broad range of fiscal and operational management functions of an organization.Master collaborator and relationship builder with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage others and work with coalitions of faculty, staff, students, university leaders, and others across a diverse university community to achieve results.Proven ability to initiate, lead, and facilitate change, be adaptable with changing conditions, and be comfortable with the ambiguity that accompanies a large public university.Outstanding organizational, problem solving, and management skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate matters of complexity and nuance to multiple and varied audiences in both planned and extemporaneous situations.Strong analytical skills and technical ability, including expertise with enterprise-wide systems.Able to effectively lead, coordinate, manage and motivate diverse, high-performing teams.Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and sensitivity to confidentiality.Ability to plan, execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines.Demonstrated experience leading programmatic or organizational change across an organization.Preferred Qualifications
