We are looking for an on-site Director of Engineering (DoE) to provide strong leadership for technical execution of the Aitech Defense Systems, Inc. (ADSI) Engineering Departments. We are on an exciting growth trajectory and there are tremendous opportunities to make significant impact on our engineering teams, programs execution, site financials, and future path.The DoE will lead departments across the major engineering disciplines of Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (including structural and thermal), Software Engineering, Embedded Software, Test Engineering, IPT Leads, and Chief Engineers to accomplish the following:Plan and direct all aspects of engineering and R&D policies, objectives, and initiativesBuild technical strategies that enable scaling of businessDevelop and manage department budgetBe a champion for positive changeEmpower teams and foster accountability throughout the entire organizationEffective and concise 2-way communicator with experience in executive presentations (effective messaging)Program / IRAD Execution

Ensure timely completion and technical integrity of team’s assignmentsImplement effective system for assessing technical progress of work product for IPT LeadsOwnership for technical content of program Risk Register (including mitigation strategy)Experienced with working recovery of complex and difficult programsCollaborate with PMO to forecast staffing projectionsDrive effective succession plans and ensure active career progressionDevelop and implement training curriculumSupport recruiting of technical personnelExperienced with attracting and retaining top talentExperienced with systematic approach to performance assessmentProcess Monitoring

Document/manage technical design and development processes, adapting industry best practicesChair Process Change Control Board for engineering processesAdvocate for continuous improvementsTechnical

Experience across product development lifecycle from concept to flight operationsExtensive experience with gate reviews and peer reviewsDrive technical root cause investigations, corrective actions, and preventive measures in Failure and Problem Report TrackingEstablish key technical metrics for evaluating progress for predictable and repeatable performanceDevelop sound proposal basis of estimates (scope, schedule, budgets), technical approach, and technical write-ups with consideration for resource constraints associated risks (i.e. identified, assessed, and appropriately responded to)Publish “White Papers” and Technical ArticlesStakeholders

Requirements:18+ years in Engineering (BS + 18 years, MS + 16+ years, or PhD + 13+ years)5+ years in Senior Management (or equivalent with related experience) with organization of 30+ employees10+ years recent experience with Aerospace applications is requiredExtensive expertise in two or more technical disciplines like Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Embedded Software, and/or Test EngineeringKnowledge of Circuit Board Design and the associated analyses is a plusExperience with design and analysis for Mil/Aero applications is a plusPrevious experience on NASA programs and Mil/Aero markets is a plusEducation:B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or other relevant field is requiredProject Management certification is a plusPotential for relocation assistanceSpecial Requirements
