Position Title: Director of Local Missions (Mission DMV)Department/Ministry: MissionsStatus: FT / Regular / Exempt / Salaried / 37.5 hours per weekReports to: Associate PastorFourth Presbyterian Church is seeking a Director for Mission DMV, our ministry to the poor and broken in our region (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia). Fourth is a congregation of 1,400 members in a Maryland suburb adjacent to Washington, D.C. In keeping with Scripture’s call to care for the poor and our core value of Neighbor-Loving Service, we are seeking to expand our outreach to the needy in the DMV region and help our congregation grow in service to the community. We are looking for a committed Christian leader with a passion for helping those with great needs and the ability to engage all of our congregation in service, prayer, and fellowship through relationships with external ministry organizations. This is a full-time position with competitive salary and benefits.The following statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Other duties may be assigned.Purpose of Position:To support the mission, vision, and ministry of Fourth by providing leadership in helping the church fulfill its commitment to serve the poor and broken of the Washington, DC area and implement the planning and execution of the church’s Mission DMV objectives.Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement, in coordination with church leadership, a vision for Mission DMV to include a strategy to meet our call to “go and do likewise”.Provide leadership to the growth and on-going execution of Mission DMV mission and vision.Develop and maintain plans which facilitate church congregants participating with organizations that serve the poor and broken.Strengthen the focus of the ministry throughout the life of the church.Duties:
Develop and implement annual ministry goals.Direct the day-to-day functions of the ministry.Develop and implement serve plans in conjunction with partner/non-partner organizations, individual ministries of Fourth, and members of Fourth congregation.Develop policies and procedures governing the implementation of ministry mission, vision, and plans in coordination with the Mission DMV Committee.Expand relationships with existing partner/non-partner organizations and develop an effective network of prospective organizations.Develop working relationships with ministry staff, the supporting committees, and the various community groups of Fourth.Coordinate with church education departments to equip the church to serve.Coordinate with the Mission DMV Committee Chair in recruiting, training, and directing the activities of Committee members.Develop and implement a communications plan.Plan an annual Mission DMV conference.In coordination with the Mission DMV Committee Chair develop, oversee, and manage the Mission DMV budget.Qualifications:
Three years’ experience directing nonprofit volunteer programs and/or experience with programs serving those in need.Superior organizational skills with ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and activities.Superior relationship-building skills with ability to cultivate action-oriented engagement both internally among the ministries of Fourth and externally among the partnering organizations.Demonstrated experience working successfully with people of diverse backgrounds.Member of an Evangelical Christian Church and willingness to sign the Fourth Statement of Faith (available upon request).Interested candidates can send a cover letter, statement of faith, and resume to
