Description:Seeking Software Engineer to design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks, etc. You will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Responsibilities include defining and developing software for tasks associated with the development, design, and debugging of software applications or operating systems. This position involves applying advanced technical/business skills. You will be a leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. You will work with a relatively small, highly motivated team while enjoying the benefits of working for a large company. In this position, you will rapidly adopt and learn new technologies, produce rapid prototypes, and convert suitable prototypes into a reliable polished product in record time. Preferable location is in the San Francisco Bay area.Requirements:Successful candidates will have Linux appliance systems development and user interface development experience. This is a systems development position requiring skills and aptitude for bringing multiple components together and making them work together. Deliverables include OS scripts, Oracle software management, tuning, utilities, security, configuration, and end-user command line tools for distributed deployments and upgrades. Both Linux and Solaris are used.

Must have:

BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related degree7 years of software engineering or related experienceExperience embedding Linux into an appliance or equivalent experience customizing Linux distributionsStrong experience with deployment, configuration, tuning, and all aspects of OS securitySolid troubleshooting skills and life-cycle upkeep (upgrades, patches)Strong operating system skills in shell scripts (sh/bash) and related utilitiesStrong skill in Perl or Python scriptingLinux virtualization experience with Xen or Oracle Linux virtualization is a huge plus.To apply for this position, please submit an MS Word document of your resume and put in the subject "Job ID # 1783".
