SENIOR PRINCIPALPolice Executive Research ForumThe Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) is seeking a Senior Principal to oversee policy/research projects and draft written reports, joining a team of collaborative leaders and doers from a range of backgrounds who are united by an urgent need to make a difference in policing and public safety.A Washington, DC-based national think tank, PERF is the leading organization developing national policy, research, and training and technical assistance to improve policing. PERF is at the forefront of police reform, innovation, and best practices. Our work has never been more important than it is today.PERF is known for getting things done quickly and responding to emerging crises with creative ideas and clear guidance. PERF Senior Principals are central to the organization’s success. Working with a diverse team, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:Directing and drafting written reports and overseeing project planning and implementation in collaboration with policing officials, expert consultants, and PERF staffSupervising project staffCollecting and analyzing dataAssisting with proposal writing, fundraising, and grant monitoring to meet reporting requirements and deliverablesQualifications:
The ideal candidate will bring:Superior writing skills: the ability to present ideas, findings, and recommendations effectively is essential8 -10 years of work experience in positions of increasing responsibility in research, police management, criminal justice, journalism, writing, or a related areaExperience with the design and execution of social science research and/or demonstration projects, and knowledge of evidence-based policing practicesAbility to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneouslyBachelor’s degree (master’s, Ph.D., or J.D. preferred) in criminology, sociology, political science, public administration, or related fieldCollaborative leadership style that promotes a dynamic team culture in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated skills in time management, personal organization, and priority setting to meet goals related to projects, proposals, and administrative tasksStrong interest and commitment to the mission and work of PERFExcellent project management skills (practical program experience and grant management experience are required)Knowledge of and practitioner experience in the substantive area of policingCompensation:
