Total compensation includes a health insurance plan.Position DescriptionUnder the direction of the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and Employee Relations provides leadership and direction for proactive district-wide human resources services and labor and employee relations, in accord with the District goals to achieve District, college, and department goals, objectives, and administrative unit outcomes.The Vice Chancellor will provide the overall vision, leadership, direction, and administrative supervision of the Human Resources Department and Employee Relations Office, including policy development, strategic planning, management, and evaluation.Job DutiesServes as the Chief Negotiator representing the District in developing and negotiating collective bargaining agreements for academic and classified bargaining units.Oversees the District's grievance process, mediating employee grievances and directing disciplinary actions.Meets regularly with the Chancellor and Governing Board in closed sessions regarding legal settlements and litigation.Oversees, develops, and implements professional development programs for faculty, staff, and administrators.Coordinates activities with various departments to ensure hiring compliance with policies and guidelines.Develops and interprets policies and procedures for recruitment and retention of qualified faculty and staff.Directly supervises and evaluates the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources and Senior Directors.Ensures effective communication methods are utilized in providing information about Human Resource programs.Coordinates preparation of reports to the Board of Trustees related to personnel recommendations.Designs and implements efforts to improve organizational effectiveness in alignment with the District's strategic mission.Minimum QualificationsPossession of a Master's degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Management or a closely related field.Minimum of 5-7 years of increasingly responsible experience in administering employer-employee relations, including human resources functions.Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of principles and practices of human resources management.Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.Desirable QualificationsExperienced as a Chief Negotiator and/or Chief Human Resources officer.Demonstrated extensive experience in collaboration with employee labor unions.Application ProcedureTo apply for this posting, complete an online Application for Administrative Position.
