The Pailin Group Professional Search ConsultantsPosition SummaryPlans, develops, and administers health information systems for health care facilities consistent with facility policies and procedures and standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws.Location

Manages medical record services through utilization of resources, proper planning and development of policies and procedures to ensure proper performance of all necessary job functions in the areas of accountability. Responsible for hiring, firing, disciplining, and completing performance reviews for medical record personnel. Provides development guidance and assists in the identification, implementation, and maintenance of organization information privacy policies and procedures in coordination with organization management and administration and legal counsel. Works with management, key departments, medical staff, and committees to ensure the organization has and maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality consent, authorization forms, and information notices. Plans and develops health information systems and procedures such as patient identification systems, coding and analysis of disease and procedures, incomplete record control systems, forms design and review systems, and records release procedures. Answers inquiries relating to information contained in patients. Prepares and monitors department budget.Other Duties & Responsibilities
Responds to subpoenas for medical or clinical records and represents the hospital in court cases involving records. Oversees patients' right to inspect, amend, and restrict access to protected health information when appropriate. Coordinates medical care evaluation with medical staff and develops criteria and methods for such evaluation. Analyzes patient data for reimbursement, facility planning, and quality of patient care, risk management, utilization management, and research.Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 3-5 years management experience in a healthcare facility. RHIA/RHIT or related experience with HIM. Understanding of Applications/Interfaces and impact on Organizations. ICD10 training preferred. Background on dealing with IT/HIM Operations.Must have high-level communication/organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple projects at a time and be able to do other projects as assigned. Former position in a lead role in HIM preferred. Min 5 years in lead role. Travel required. Member of American Health Information Management Association with maintenance of continuing education requirements preferred.Skills & Requirements
Analytical ability to identify, analyze, and evaluate market changes, create solutions to difficult administrative, technical or human situations. Communication and interpersonal skills for contact with internal and external customers to obtain and interpret a variety of information based on knowledge of departmental practices, hospital policies and programs, and specific technical and regulatory knowledge. Conflict resolution, discretion, diplomacy, tact, and listening skills. Project management skills. Leadership skills such as accountability, decision-making, coaching, and counseling. Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards, and monitors advancements in information privacy technologies to ensure organization adaptation and compliance.
