The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. This position is a “pool” position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available. The District maintains a “pool” of applications for positions which are needed on an ongoing basis at Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College.Duties and Responsibilities

Teach classes as assigned in Phlebotomy.Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies.Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and general institutional needs.Minimum Qualifications

Possession of any Bachelor’s degree AND two years of phlebotomy experience OR an Associate degree AND six years of phlebotomy experience OR the equivalent.A Certified Phlebotomy Technician with at least three years’ experience in phlebotomy within the previous five years.A current California Phlebotomy Certification (CPT) (in good standing).Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Recent clinical experience in phlebotomy.Willingness to update skills if needed.Maintain certification and/or licensure by attending continuing education classes or home study courses.Ability to teach in those clinical areas as assigned.Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of successful clinical teaching techniques.Demonstrate an understanding of current phlebotomy issues and trends.Be willing to actively participate and contribute to changes in the phlebotomy program at department and team meetings.A commitment to staying abreast of new trends in phlebotomy and the clinical setting.A commitment to supporting gender and ethnically diverse students enrolled in phlebotomy.Conditions of Employment
