PennsylvaniaPosted 4 days agoThe Department of Modern Languages at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Korean Studies, beginning on August 1, 2024. This is a 3-year position and may be renewable pending performance review. Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in Korean and English. A PhD in Contemporary Korean Literary and Cultural Studies or a relevant field is required; ABD will be considered. Of particular interest are candidates whose research focuses on contemporary Korean popular culture, film and media studies, translation studies, and/or race, ethnicity, or gender studies. Demonstrated experience or interest in developing digital humanities research and teaching is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be able to teach Korean language and culture at all levels, including Korean for heritage students, along with interdisciplinary courses in English, and engage in student outreach and activities to help develop Korean Studies at CMU.
