ECO Posted On July 23, 2021Join the Coastal Programs Team within the Natural Resources Division (NRD) of California State Parks in Sacramento to provide technical expertise on natural resources management issues in support of the entire State Park System.In this unique and exciting role, the incumbent will preserve and protect the state's extraordinary biological diversity and coastal natural resources. This important and challenging position involves overseeing oceanographic research that meets the coastal management needs of the Department and the State of California. The Senior Environmental Scientist Specialist will guide applied oceanographic research addressing sea level rise and other coastal climate change impacts; examine coastal processes and sediment dynamics; investigate nearshore and estuarine management questions; and inform coastal resilience planning statewide. Under the supervision of the Coastal Programs Manager, this position will also provide technical and project review to NRD staff and coastal district natural resources staff statewide.The reporting location for this position is negotiable - either at the department headquarters in Sacramento, CA or a coastal State Parks district office.
