This position is responsible for providing inpatient acute psychiatric care to patients at the Wyoming State Hospital. This includes: performing psychiatric evaluations for new admissions, assigning diagnoses, prescribing medication and other treatment modalities, developing and implementing treatment plans with other professional disciplines, leading a treatment team, and taking on-call in rotation with other psychiatric providers.The city of Evanston is a small and friendly Rocky Mountain community that is a 45-minute drive from the world-famous ski slopes of Park City, Utah. There are concerts, shopping, dining, professional sporting events, and an international airport 60 minutes away in Salt Lake City. Evanston's area is excellent for recreational activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, biking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.Human Resource Contact:

The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.Performs admission and diagnostic evaluations to assess the mental status of patients admitted to the Wyoming State Hospital to determine appropriate care.Provides ongoing assessments and treatment to determine the progress of each patient’s treatment.Leads treatment teams regarding the care, needs, and progress of patients.Maintains appropriate paperwork required for patient care.Maintains an active role in updating treatment plans.Administers medical evaluations, medications, and provides psychiatric counseling for mental health issues.Reviews and monitors physical symptoms.Orders and interprets labs.Responsible for discharge planning.Coordinates with other disciplines, including primary care staff and external healthcare providers.Direct workflow of interdisciplinary teams.Trains and educates student nurses, psychology trainees, and staff from other disciplines.Leads therapeutic groups for patients.Responds to code blues and other emergencies.Serves as front-line management for safety calls and interventions.Follows hospital and state policy for the use of involuntary treatment.Participates in calls with guardians and family members in accordance with policy.Performs appropriate collateral medical duties as assigned by the Medical Director.KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, treatment, and medical conditions impacting patients.Knowledge of psychotherapy, side effects, risks, and benefits.Knowledge of the guidelines, rules, and regulations regarding prescribing practices.Knowledge of current legal liabilities, federal, and state rules and regulations, and standards governing psychiatric rehabilitation care of the mentally ill.Knowledge of treatment intervention in highly complex cases.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Board certified (or eligible) in Psychiatry and eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Wyoming.PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
