If this proof is not provided within this timeframe, the offer may be rescinded or employment terminated.Position Summary/Purpose of Position:The Unified Communications Engineer position provides overall design, development, and support for the University of Maryland’s telephone and collaboration infrastructure. This will involve lifecycle management and support of the network, communications equipment associated with

VOIP

system, and services, including but not limited to teleconferencing, chat, voice, and call center, automatic call distribution, voicemail, audio/web/video conferencing, email, instant messaging, AI Agent augmentation, and related systems.The role also maintains and manages the Cisco

VOIP

platform. This role will also help plan and provide collaboration services that enhance the teaching and working presence of the students, staff, and faculty.This position is considered an essential position and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergencies to help maintain continuity of University services.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.Note: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.Experience :

Extensive experience (minimum 4 years) administering and supporting Cisco Unified Communications and telephony platforms in enterprise-scale deployments.Demonstrated proficiency in system management, maintenance, and troubleshooting within complex network environments.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong experience in at least 3 of the following items:

Redsky e911 and Cisco Emergency Responder

TCP /IP,

OSPF ,

BGPManagement of Cisco Analog GatewaysCloud-hosted VoIP and or Collaboration SystemsScripting and integration using Python and Java,WebEx, Google Suites, Cisco Call Center, Cisco Call Manager and communications gateways, Zoom, Teams, Slack.Experience with

SIP -based conference and desktop video systems

Strong written and oral communication skillsAbility to develop software that manages and maintains the integrations and operability of collaboration systems.Ability to lead presentations with small to medium-sized groupsAble to organize and provide direction to junior staff membersA demonstrated commitment to customer serviceProvides leadership and helps bridge the gap between team manager and team members on technical topicsAbility to effectively manage workload and deliver assignments on timeSkilled in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces

Ability to perform the following:

Identify problems in the enterprise network infrastructure and propose solutions. Design, implement and support network security services.Identify functions that can be improved by process development and implementation.Meet with customers and obtain specific requirements.Work independently, as well as within a team environment.Prepare purchase requisitions and SOWs with executive summaries and backup documentation.Preferences:

Preferences:Experience in a higher education environment.Network and technology certifications, particularly in support of collaboration and VoIP services.**This position does not provide sponsorship for Visas.
