It occupies some of the most historically rich land and features picnic areas, ball fields, a museum, a zoo, and a golf course. The Brackenridge Park Conservancy is a steward of the park’s natural, historic, educational, and recreational resources and advocates for their preservation and enhancement for current and future generations.The Conservancy works with civic and community groups to create a unified vision and values to transform the park into a more walkable, enjoyable place while respecting its natural resources and traditions of its users.On behalf of the City of San Antonio, the mission of the Brackenridge Park Conservancy is to secure long-lasting financial, institutional, and community support for the park’s preservation, enhancement, and maintenance through memberships, an annual gala, grants, and gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.The Conservancy is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors and operates under a management agreement with the City of San Antonio and the Parks and Recreation Department.Brackenridge Park Conservancy seeks an accomplished senior leader who demonstrates a keen understanding of, and passion for, the organization’s unique mission and an appreciation for the value of Brackenridge Park as a cherished gathering place with deep historical, cultural, and ecological resources. This person must assist the Conservancy in pursuing its strategic goals through knowledge of and experience with strategic engagement, fundraising, planning, operations, financial management, business process improvement, and managing human capital in a growing organization.The ideal candidate will have significant experience in leading strategic and high-level decision-making, particularly during organizational growth and managing multiple projects simultaneously. They must use keen interpersonal skills to coalesce multiple external stakeholders around common goals and embody high ethical standards while balancing business savvy with responsible, people-focused management. A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with government, business, civic, and nonprofit leaders is required.Experience working directly with elected and appointed officials, and successfully navigating complex processes to advance key initiatives is paramount. The candidate must establish and maintain strong relationships with benefactors, potential donors, and other key sources of financial support in various sectors. Significant fundraising experience is required, particularly with national foundations and institutional funders, as well as experience working closely with local and state government officials and policymakers.This individual must be confident, thoughtful, and possess the skills and presence to work effectively and collaboratively.
