HOUSING-ZONING CODE INSPECTOR I (SR-14) [3 vacancies]

Assists in the inspection of commercial and residential buildings and other structures used for habitation for compliance with provisions of the City and County Housing Code; inspects sites and inspecting buildings/sites of limited size and scope for compliance with provisions of the Comprehensive Zoning Code; inspects sidewalk areas and vacant lots for compliance with pertinent ordinances; issues citations and recommends corrective action for non-conformance; maintains records and prepares reports of inspections; and performs other duties as required.

There are three (3) vacancies with the

Department of Planning and Permitting

, Customer Service Office. The current vacancies require the use of a personal vehicle and valid automobile insurance coverage (mileage will be reimbursed).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Two (2) years of experience in inspectional or investigatory work or interpreting and/or applying the Building Code and related ordinances. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of inspectional and investigative methods and techniques; and the ability to interpret and apply building codes and/or related ordinances.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT

Possession of a valid driver's license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment.
