Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some after hours and weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:This position provides overall supervision and management for Community Health Nursing (CHN), which includes Disease Prevention & Control (DPC), Health Information Management (HIM), and Reproductive Health Clinic (RHC) programs. Plan, direct and provide overall evaluation of clinical staff in CHN while overseeing and directing program supervisors who plan and direct staff in DPC, HIM, and RHC. Work with department supervisors and CHN staff, the State of Alaska, grantors and community agencies in assessing community needs, planning programs/projects and implementing community health nursing intervention strategies. Assist with preparation and management of Federal and State grants, which fund DPC, HIM and RHC programs. Ensure that all Community Health Nursing programs and staff adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and statutes pertaining to fiscal responsibilities, clinic services, standards of care, staff position duties, and grant specifications. Prepare and monitor CHN budgets. Provides outreach and education onsite at community partner locations such as medical facilities, media sites, academic institutions, and correctional facilities. Perform other related duties as assigned.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE:The Anchorage Health Department (AHD) engages in the State of Alaska Department of Health (DOH) emergency responses and the federal Incident Command System (ICS). This includes training exercises as part of the AHD's Crisis Health Action Team (CHAT) and municipal Emergency Operations Center (EOC). In the case of a natural or manmade disaster, AHD employees may be called to engage in emergency operations responses and recovery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a current Registered Nurse License

and

years of experience in nursing or public health,

two (2) years of which must be lead, managerial and/or supervisory nursing experience.ORMaster’s degree in Nursing, a current Registered Nurse License

and

three

years of experience in nursing or public health,

two (2) years of which must be lead, managerial and/or supervisory nursing experience.

All applicants must possess or obtain:A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License at time of hire.Current State of Alaska Registered Nurse License by time of hire OR if an applicant is not currently licensed in Alaska, then a temporary Alaska Nursing License must be obtained by the time of hire. (Regular license must be obtained within 180 days of hire.)Current American Red Cross/American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR) or equivalent within 90 days of hire.Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation (AS 12.62.160 and AS 12.62.400) at time of hire.AHD HIPPA certification within 30 days of hire.

PREFERENCE:Prefer applicant with experience in public health nursing.Supervisory experience.Experience with grant management.
