page of our website.The position is located in the Employee Claims Division of the Department of Human Resources Development and participates in the administration of the State's self-insured workers' compensation program. The duties and responsibilities include:Handling complex cases on behalf of the employer.Investigating possible abuses of workers' compensation claims.Presenting cases for workers' compensation hearings.Conducting studies and making recommendations for the development and improvement of the workers' compensation system.Minimum Qualifications:
Basic Education/Experience:
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.Selective Certification - Workers' Compensation Claims Management Experience:
One and one half years (1 1/2) for level III, two and one half years (2 1/2) for level IV, or three and one half (3 1/2) years for level V of progressively responsible professional work experience in the area of workers' compensation, which involved:Investigating and monitoring questionable/complex claims.Recommending/determining the employer's position.Preparing and recommending settlement offers and negotiating settlements.Developing the employer's case and representing the employer in hearings on contested cases.Supervisory Aptitude:
For level V only, supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential.Substitutions Allowed:
