Serves as an integral part of the senior leadership team, providing guidance to administrators, Deans, directors, faculty, department heads, supervisors, and other staff on all aspects of human resource management. Reports directly to the Vice President of Business and Finance/CFO of the College aligning strategic leadership initiatives. Assists with developing and sustaining a commitment to the College's vision, mission, and core values helping to recognize and identify individuals' full potential by providing tools for success and professional growth. Supports management by providing management direction, advice, and counsel. Consults with legal counsel as appropriate on employment and labor relations matters.Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeads college's compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal requirements including Immigration requirements. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and current employment legislation.Provides recommendations to senior staff for improvement of the college's policies, procedures, and practices on operational and employment-related matters.Interacts on strategic matters with the president, vice presidents, and all levels of the institution.Directs and coordinates all aspects of the employee lifecycle from open requisitions, job descriptions, hiring, onboarding, retention, to termination and retirement processes.Assists, advises, and consults with senior administration, faculty, management, and staff on all areas of human resources including policy interpretation, disciplinary process, employee investigations, employee onboarding, and offboarding.Develops, administers, and maintains employee benefit programs including executive retirement plans.Reports compensation, benefits, and other benchmarking data for internal equity and compliance purposes.Manages and trains managers on performance evaluation programs.Annually reviews and makes recommendations to senior staff for improvement of the college's policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance.Manages the grievance process with unions.Provides support for negotiations and administration of collective bargaining agreements.Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.Communicates with employees about compensation, benefits, and other facets of their employment.Consults with legal counsel as appropriate on personnel matters.Supervises, coaches, and develops Human Resources staff.QualificationsBachelor's Degree.An advanced degree and professional certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is preferred.Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the human resource field.Experience in higher education preferred.Knowledge of union/labor contracts.Must have a high degree of Integrity and Confidentiality.Must have strong verbal and written skills.Must be able to navigate relationships with a high level of trust.Supervisory DutiesThis position has supervisory duties.DisclaimerThe above declarations are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of the position described, nor are they intended to be such a listing of the skills and abilities required to do the job.
