This senior leadership role is pivotal in planning, managing, and coordinating all private sector fundraising activities to support the research, teaching, and patient care mission of the Department of Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 13 individuals, leading comprehensive development efforts, and ensuring the success of annual and campaign fundraising. Key responsibilities include partnering with the Chair of the Department of Medicine to establish strategies and priorities, leading the planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns, and providing oversight of volunteer boards. The role demands a candidate with a broad understanding of campaign planning and management, as well as the capacity to articulate fundraising priorities and goals. The role requires a candidate with a Bachelor's degree, at least ten years of experience in major and principal gifts development, and a proven track record in securing significant philanthropic support. Applicants for the Executive Director of Development position at the company should possess superb principal and major gift abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a complex, multi-divisional environment. The Executive Director will also be expected to engage in direct fundraising activities, maintain a portfolio of prospects, and provide education and training to faculty and volunteers. A background in academic medicine is preferred, and an advanced degree is a plus.
