Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting the basketball program with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes while working to ensure the best student experience possible for the members of the Benedictine University Basketball Program.Essential Job Responsibilities:Assist the basketball program with the identification and successful recruitment of qualified student-athletes to help place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.Responsible for coaching and mentoring student-athletes as well as assisting with film breakdown, developing and implementing scouting reports, game and practice plans, and coaching in all traditional and non-traditional segments.Responsible for assisting the head coach, program, and university personnel with the retention of student-athletes, including social and academic support.Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence with NCAA regulations and Sports Performance expectations.Other Functions:Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community.Attend departmental and University-related meetings and events.Maintain a positive student-athlete assessment for the program from student-athletes.Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate University events.Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers, and fans.Serve on University, conference, and national committees as needed.Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community.Required Qualifications:Education:

Bachelor's Degree Required

Experience:

Coaching or playing experience and extensive knowledge of the sport at the collegiate level preferred.Qualifications:

Applicant must obtain acceptance into a Benedictine Graduate program of Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Business Analytics, Master of Science in Management & Organizational Behavior, or Master of Public Health.Specific Skills:

Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management skills, and demonstrated supervisory skills.Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:

Valid driver’s license and CPR/First Aid/AED certification required.Physical Requirements:

May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. Must reach, bend, stoop, lift, and sit, walk or stand for long periods. Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining a professional demeanor. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather.Travel (If applicable):
