Job Description

The Accountant is responsible for moderately complex accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resultant managerial reports and financial statements. Responsibilities include:Reviewing and/or processing billing/invoicing and entering data into the accounting databases.Applying or submitting cash applications to the vouchers/invoices.Researching and resolving accounts receivable issues.Answering questions from other departments regarding various accounting issues and reports.Preparing income statements, balance sheets, and various other accounting statements or financial reports.Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications.Analyzing reports and records, making recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.Preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations.Maintaining, recording, and reconciling billings and accounts receivable.Examining financial statements for conformance with accounting requirements and principles.Creating month-end accounting entries and reconciling discrepancies.Resolving routine questions and problems, and referring complex items to Senior Accountant or department management.Other duties may be assigned. No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position, but may provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers.Job RequirementsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two to four years of related experience including:

2+ years professional level accounting experience, preferably in general accounting, A/P, A/R clerical, and/or entry-level accountant positions.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational and analytical skills.Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers.Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications and experience with automated accounting and financial management systems are also required.
