Concord, MAJob Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our great finance team. The individual in this high-impact role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our growing company and will regularly interface with cross-functional departments and senior leadership. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the management of the U.S. accounting operations and supervision of a small team, as well as directly responsible for executing on more complex financial responsibilities. The ideal candidate for this role is a highly motivated, accountable self-starter with a continuous-improvement mindset who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This role reports directly to the Controller and is based in Concord, MA, offering a hybrid in-office/work-from-home work week.Responsibilities:Manage the day-to-day U.S accounting operations, and assist in the financial reporting process, including financial statements, departmental reporting, etc.Manage the U.S. accounting team, providing guidance and mentorship to team members.Lead the month, quarter, and year-end closing processes, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled.Ensure detailed review procedures and appropriate documentation of non-standard transactions are performed in a timely manner.Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures, documenting current processes and suggesting improvements.Provide expert level experience with SaaS Revenue Accounting (ASC 606), from a technical accounting standpoint and with regards to application within our processes and systems.Lead and support various audits and manage tax compliance.Payroll, benefits reconciliations, sales tax returns, and multi-state payroll and tax compliance.Support implementation activities related to Sales Operations automation along with other automations within accounting and the order-to-cash cycle.Administer and maintain the integrity of the ERP system (NetSuite) and related integrations. Ability to understand technical requirements and reconcile data between systems.Interpret accounting requirements under various agreements, including compensation plans and royalty arrangements.Stay up to date on changes in accounting standards and regulations.Required Skills/Abilities:Excellent writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.Meticulous attention to detail in work product.Technically savvy with systems; ability to improve processes and utilize technology to enhance productivity, reduce errors, and mitigate risks.Ability to prioritize and manage high-priority projects to completion.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse range of departments and levels, including executive management.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in accounting.Proven experience in revenue recognition in the SaaS industry.Previous experience in public accounting at a Senior Associate or higher level.Proficient in NetSuite, with experience in configuring and customizing NetSuite to meet specific business requirements.Experience managing and motivating an accounting team.Experience with payroll, foreign currency, and a multi-entity company.
