Come build the first distributed utility with us, propelling the biggest energy transformation of our lifetime!The RoleAs an early member of our engineering team, you will play a key role in the design and commercialization of our energy systems. You will lead the battery cell selection process, manage vendors, coordinate cell specific testing and characterization activities, and assess new technologies. The battery cell is the heart of our products and this person has the opportunity to sculpt it into a functional work of art.What you'll do:Work with battery cell vendors to assess technology and product fit.Manage suppliers to ensure the battery cells meet our expectations.Manage external test sites to perform cell characterization.Support our test lab in setting up internal testing capabilities.Root cause analysis of potential cell failures.Create and run a design verification plan (DVP) for Moxion’s battery cells.Assess new technologies and provide guidance on readiness for Moxion's future products.Create cell inspection criteria to support manufacturing and supply chain.Perform on-site cell supplier audits.Train and mentor others at Moxion about cell technology to improve integration.Perform, lead, and train detailed requirements management including tool chain, analysis, decomposition, communication, tracking, and compliance across the product.Skills to be successful:PhD in Materials Science from an accredited university.Experience working at a battery cell supplier in an R&D environment.Experience working in battery cell applications engineering.Strong understanding of the commercially available and upcoming chemistries as well as their strengths and weaknesses.Ability to quickly adapt to change.Demonstrated execution on real products at scale.Detailed understanding of the physical construction, manufacturing processes, and chemical composition of battery cells and formats.Nice to haves:Multi-lingual in Korean, Japanese, Mandarin.At Moxion you get:Health, dental, and vision coverage, unlimited PTO, competitive equity & compensation packages, free coffee and snacks, flexible work from home policy, access to Mountain Hardware, Columbia, Sorel, & Prana employee stores and discounts, credit to company swag store, investment in professional development courses, and parental leave program.We Value:People are at the core of Moxion’s values.
