The task of the Senior Computer Specialist is to enable and assist faculty and staff in the appropriate use of technology to accomplish the complex goals of the department efficiently and accurately.
Duties and Responsibilities:Computing Device Management & Support (50%)Configure and install desktop and laptop computers, printers, network devices, mobile devices, and associated computing hardware.Install, maintain, and upgrade operating system and application software.Independently diagnose and resolve computer hardware and software issues.Support and manage student computing spaces.Manage inventory, asset management, and disposal of equipment and data.Purchasing of IT related equipment, supplies, software, and licensing.Provide training and technical support for video conferencing spaces.
Desktop & Cloud-Based Applications Support (50%)Support end-users adopting best-practices for cloud-based computing.Support department-managed file storage.Manage an Active Directory environment (Windows delegate OU).Manage user accounts related to Active Directory groups.Support video conferencing using MS Teams and Zoom applications.Create and update internal IT and end-user documentation.Provide technical trainings to faculty and staff as needed.Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or related field.At least 3 years of related experience including:
Additional RequirementsSupporting Microsoft Office 365 products.Supporting and managing Windows and MacOS devices.Supporting videoconferencing tools MS Teams and Zoom.
Desired Qualifications:Experience with the UW IT computing and information systems and environment.Experience supporting faculty, staff, and students in an academic environment.Experience collaborating with clients to develop, write, and maintain database and web-based applications.
Working Environmental Conditions:Full-time onsite attendance required. Requires travel between multiple Department of HSPop sites. Work schedule is 40 hours day shift with occasional off-hours or weekend work when required. Must be able to regularly lift 40 pounds.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.Application Process:
