Position DescriptionAssistant/Associate/Full Professor - Urologic Oncology with a Joint VA Appointment (Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor)

The Department of Urologic Surgery at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, invites applicants for a full-time position (85% position at UC Davis, School of Medicine with a 25% joint appointment in the VA Northern California Health Care System). This is an academic position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Faculty in the Clinical X series is expected to engage in professional competency and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series is expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative activities, and University/public service. It is expected that the candidate chosen for this position will be qualified to hold a 25% joint appointment in the VA Northern California Health Care System.

EXPECTATIONS:The successful candidate will have strong clinical skills with sub-specialty interest in urologic oncology. The incumbent will perform clinical service to manage patients with urologic cancers to include kidney, bladder, prostate and testes using open, minimally invasive and robotic surgical approaches. Management of other urologic conditions may also be included.

The candidate is expected to provide teaching and supervision of various learners such as medical students, interns, residents, graduate students, and/or postdoctoral fellows. This includes participation in weekly grand rounds and educational conferences. Other forms of teaching can be in the form of lectures and courses or development of new courses.

Research and creative work responsibilities vary by the series and may include participation in novel and collaborative research investigation and authorship of publications in peer reviewed journals.

Service and professional responsibilities include University and public service through committee work, participation in appropriate professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate means as required by series and rank.

The candidate must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and adhere to University policies and procedures.

QualificationsBasic qualifications

(required at time of application)Candidates must possess or be eligible for the following:

M.D. degree

Board certified or board-eligible in Urology

Medical licensure (or eligible for licensure) in the State of California

Fellowship trained in urologic oncology

Demonstrated experience in providing clinical services in urologic oncology

Evidence of experience with teaching

Evidence of publications of scholarly work in medical literature

US Citizenship required. (Non-citizens may be appointed when no qualified citizens are available in accordance with regulations issued by the Under Secretary for Health or designee).

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they are legally authorized to work in the United States. The University will not offer sponsorship of a visa for this position.
