The DepartmentThe Department of History offers a 40-unit BA in history, with emphases in world history, European history, and the history of the Americas. The department also offers a 30-unit MA in history, with separate thesis and comprehensive exam tracks. Departmental alumni pursue careers in fields that include law, government, teaching, journalism, business, academia, museum curatorship, librarianship, and the non-profit sector, with some continuing their historical studies at the PhD level.

Duties of the PositionThe successful candidate will be committed to the academic success of all students and to an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates diversity and difference. The candidate will teach lower-division and upper-division GE courses in American history or world history, and upper-division elective courses in the candidate's area of specialty, as needed.

Professional QualificationsTo be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have:A strong commitment to teaching at the BA level.The ability to teach GE courses in American history and world history.Applicants must be ABD at the time of appointment; PhD is preferred.

Rank and SalaryFull-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases.Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month.Selection as a candidate in the applicant pool does not guarantee employment.
